Monday marked the 13th anniversary of the day I married my best friend. What a day that provided life changing memories. I've heard it many times from those married many more years than I "it only gets better." It is true!
The day was marked with the usual...tuxedos, amazing dresses, candles, flowers, cake, dancing, friends and family. There was the carriage, reception and gifts. My boys were there which made the day very special...but for me, it was about her.
Being able to begin a life with someone who I could bless, care for, encourage, support, and love was what I had dreamed for. I knew I would receive those same gifts from her, but it was important for me to be able to find someone to whom I could give these blessing and who would accept, appreciate and grow in them.
The journey has taken us to three different areas of California, four different homes, 6 different jobs, and 3 different churches. We have worked through our own idiosyncrasies and come out wiser and more devoted to God and each other.
Oh yes...we've have had only one cat...Leroy!
Many people have come and gone who have impacted our marriage and we are grateful for all. We are thankful to God for the challenges which have made us more mature and prepared for the adventures of the future.
If you are struggling in your marriage...remember the real purpose for joining your life to another...to bless them with God's blessings. If your marriage is wonderful, praise God and thank your spouse for coming into your life. If you are not married continue to prepare yourself for someone if marriage is your choice.
If you are married, what are the blessings of your relationship?
